Berlin 1942

When Bruno returns home from school one day, he discovers that his belongings are being packed in crates. His father has received a promotion and the family must move from their home to a new house far far away, where there is no one to play with and nothing to do. A tall fence running alongside stretches as far as the eye can see and cuts him off from the strange people he can see in the distance.

But Bruno longs to be an explorer and decides that there must be more to this desolate new place than meets the eye. While exploring his new environment, he meets another boy whose life and circumstances are very different to his own, and their meeting results in a friendship that has devastating consequences.

What Customers Say About The Boy in the Striped Pajamas:

This book came just in time and was in very good condition. The only bad thing was the snell of the paper, not a very pleasent smell. BUT if you want to buy this book I would highly recommend you all to buy it from here. It's an amazing book, just as good and effective as the movie.I'm done reading the book if anyone is looking to get this book I'd be more than happy to give it away free.

John Boyne's young adult novel The Boy in the Striped Pajamas rightly deserves all of the high praise that lead me to read the work in the first place. Told from the perspective of a nine-year-old Nazi officer's son, the story describes life"on the other side of the fence" as Bruno struggles with a sudden move from Berlin to Auschwitz, the heavy military presence in his otherwise civilian life, and the meeting of an unlikely friend. The Boy in the Striped Pajamas is no less striking for its charming and simple naivety; indeed, the youthful ignorance and innocence is what makes the novel so endearing, and ultimately heartbreaking. Boyne shows his reader under what circumstances the Commandant of a concentration camp can be seen as a "good man", and the true difference between boys and families living on opposite sides of the fence.

simplicity. Initially, young Bruno, the protagonist, comes off as being quite an innocent youngster. - to the point of wondering if it wasn't more the author than Bruno who was excessively innocent and naive. However, after delving deeper into this story, his innocence and naivete became irritating to me. By the middle of the story I was quite aggravated with the author's character development style and his protagonist's.gullibility. Young Bruno had, in my opinion, moved beyond innocence and naivete to being just an idiot of a kid. However, the excessive innocence comes to terms successfully in the end, playing a vital, important and necessary component in the final chapters.Within this story there are certainly more points for pondering, reflection and learning than just the innocence of this child and how that played against him - as one should expect in any story set against the Holocaust.

I thought this story was well written. It was an easy read, but provoked a lot of thoughts. I would recommend.

Overall a great read. It's inspiring, magical & gives you the feeling that you're in the life & times of Bruno.

In this book, their unique friendship hits many obstacles, but in the end, they end up together hand in hand. I can't describe much, because that will ruin the entire book. One of the characters in this book, Bruno, would get along well with Zech, another little boy in one of my current books, A Land Remembered.

This is a book project for my class; so my review will be long & boring; but here it is anyways:One major conflict in this book would be the friendship between Bruno & Shmuel. A must read.I would definitely recommend this book to anyone.

They're both curious, adventurous, brave & intelligent. They'd help each other.**Jacket Blurb Section**The Boy in the Striped Pajamas- A great story about two little boys with very different circumstances that end up with an inseperable & very unique bond.

People who like history, but don't want to read a million pages to get to the good stuff would love this book. :)
